Night and Day

Night
A blanket draped over the earth
A break from the glaring sun
and from the problems during the day
A worry-free time
A place to decompress
crickets chirping
Fireflies flitting about in the darkness

Yet
If you listen closely,
you will hear the mournful cries of a wolf
that has lost its pack
A sense of loss, confusion
Taints his howl

Until day
A chance to start fresh
to forget the nightmares that haunted your soul
when dark took over
To forget yesterday’s problems

Crickets replaced with a bird’s cheerful tune
Moon replaced by sun
Night replaced by day

And suddenly
darkness looms
Night is just around the corner
The moon cannot be contained for much longer
Just like that
Moon replaces sun
Night replaces day

An endless cycle
that ensures a state of tranquility
but also chaos,
In our lives.
