Gazelle to Lion

I have been a gazelle

Running from the lion,

But never taking opportunities

when the lion is sleeping

peacefully in his den.

I will not be a gazelle.

When the sun comes up again,

rising over the African desert

shining its blinding rays through the acacia trees,

I will be a lion.

I will take what is mine,

and I will never,

ever, be a gazelle

again.
